Smile

Time: 4 hours
Size: A4

Tools:
Schoellershammer Paper (Now Reflex)
Prismacolor Premiere graphite pencils
A few touchups with Mitsubishi Hi-Uni Pencils
Kneaded Eraser
Electric Eraser

Tried out the Prismacolor Premier graphite pencils on stream.

Final verdict? I am going back to my “normal” pencils. I will just have to take trips to Tokyo now and then to get new ones lol. (don’t worry, Tokyo is just a hop over in the eastern direction from me. A weekend trip, even)

FUCK Hairspray!

I keep seeing, over and over again, that people are suggesting to use hairspray to fix their art from smudging. That is the ONLY THING IN ART that crawls under my skin.

DON’T use hairspray if you value your art at all. You are worth more than that. Don’t cheap out because you don’t want to spend one or two more euro or dollars to get the good stuff. Fixative isn’t that damned expensive.

Twitch Stream Day 1

It was a pretty productive day! I streamed for about 3 hours. Of course, no one really gets many viewers on the first day, so there wasn’t much conversation until the very end.

I will be streaming again today at about the same time.  If you aren’t able to watch me live, then you can always come back here and watch the speed video ;)

Draw Me Something!

Handmade art always takes time. It takes skill. It takes a horrendous number of mistakes.  It takes sleepless nights and years of practice.

Hollow Unicorn

First artwork in Mongolia! It took far longer than it should have. It’s a subject I am not used to, and we had no furniture, whatsoever, while I was drawing. I had to sort of slump over the kitchen island while drawing. It wasn’t the most comfortable of experiences, I can tell you that haha!

I am hoping the result of this piece sets the mood for the rest of the work to come!

Oh!  And don’t forget.  You can submit your photos to be included in the new book coming.  For more info: https://www.renekunertart.com/2018/08/14/still-a-graphite-junkie/
