Prismacolor Premiere graphite pencils
A few touchups with Mitsubishi Hi-Uni Pencils
Tried out the Prismacolor Premier graphite pencils on stream.
Final verdict? I am going back to my “normal” pencils. I will just have to take trips to Tokyo now and then to get new ones lol. (don’t worry, Tokyo is just a hop over in the eastern direction from me. A weekend trip, even)
I keep seeing, over and over again, that people are suggesting to use hairspray to fix their art from smudging. That is the ONLY THING IN ART that crawls under my skin.
DON’T use hairspray if you value your art at all. You are worth more than that. Don’t cheap out because you don’t want to spend one or two more euro or dollars to get the good stuff. Fixative isn’t that damned expensive.
Just giving a head’s up. I am going to be on vacation from Dec 15th until Jan 2nd. Physical orders will be suspended for that time.
You can still purchase products from my shop, but shipping will be delayed for that time.
Lots of photos to come
I will be streaming again today at about the same time. If you aren’t able to watch me live, then you can always come back here and watch the speed video
Approximately 4 and a half hours until I begin my first live stream!
Just warning you now… there may be excessive cursing. I was a sailor in my past life…
If you aren’t following, now’s the time! You will get notifications of my streams when you register and follow me.
Since I recently opened my Twitch account, I figured I would stream my art from there. I haven’t started live streaming yet, but I have uploaded a few speed drawing/paintings.
Here is my latest upload. I drew this really quickly while watching someone else stream. I want to get used to the place before I turn the camera on myself.
I am thinking of streaming a drawing or two on Twitch. Maybe… Might get a few more viewers than Facebook that way. Of course, it will still be in the middle of the night for most of you…
Handmade art always takes time. It takes skill. It takes a horrendous number of mistakes. It takes sleepless nights and years of practice.
No one wakes up one day and just says “oh, I know! I’ll become a talented artist today!” Yeah, that’s not how it works. It takes a lifetime to earn the skills. The amount of patience that’s required is more than the “average person” can spare.
First artwork in Mongolia! It took far longer than it should have. It’s a subject I am not used to, and we had no furniture, whatsoever, while I was drawing. I had to sort of slump over the kitchen island while drawing. It wasn’t the most comfortable of experiences, I can tell you that haha!
I am hoping the result of this piece sets the mood for the rest of the work to come!
Oh! And don’t forget. You can submit your photos to be included in the new book coming. For more info: https://www.renekunertart.com/2018/08/14/still-a-graphite-junkie/
