Busy busy busy

Loads of things going on this month!  The end of the year is always hectic.  I am pretty sure all of you know just how much so.

I haven’t forgotten about the tutorial, though!  I will be getting to it very soon!  I believe I will be starting off with graphite texturing.  That seems to be my most requested technique.

To get you prepared, now is the time to go out and get yourself some various makeup brushes, pastel brushes, paint brushes… well, just any kind of brush you can think of!  They all do different stuff ;)

Don’t forget that you will obviously need graphite, too.  The crayon/block kind is the best for this.  Cretacolor or Lyra is a good place to start.  I will give more on that when the tutorial comes.

Ohhhh and paper!  Thanks for the reminder, Jan!  ?

A rough drawing paper is best. Some names that come to mind are Strathmore (very good paper), Canson (not my favorite, but popular), Hahnemühle, and Schoellershammer (what I use, but hard to find). The thing to stay away from are the smooth papers. Slightly textured (toothed) is always a good choice. It just holds the graphite better. It is definitely a personal choice, though. A lot of artists like the smooth paper, but you won’t be able to get a really dark tone with it.

So keep on the lookout!  I will see you soon!
